Kinderdijk is one of the most picturesque iconic landmarks in the Netherlands. The site is situated southeast of the City of Rotterdam and can easily be accessed by car. At Kinderdijk there are a total of 19 windmills sitting dispersed over three polders. The windmills were mostly built between 1740 and 1750 to pump water off the polder's fertile grounds. Nowadays the pump job has been taken over by machines but the windmills are still there and running and open to the public for visiting.
That apart the windmill are the top photographic spot in the entire area. Good weather permitted it is rather easy to take good shots.
